Atsion Recreation Area
Explore the heart of the New Jersey Pinelands.
Overview
Atsion Recreation Area, a part of Wharton State Forest, has a swimming beach, restrooms, and trails. The Red and Blue Trails are well-maintained for accessibility. The Blue Trail is just a more extended loop from the Red Trail. Both trails provide beautiful views of Atsion Lake and run through a variety of Pine Barrens habitats. There are interpretive signs set to be readable from a wheelchair and some benches along the way. There is a large parking area at Atsion Recreation Area. This site can be popular and fill up in the summer, especially on weekends. If the lot is full, you will not be permitted into the recreation area to use the trails or any of the other facilities.
